| Retreat for Diabetes Health Advocates in the Latino Community of Connecticut

Project DIAL, (Diabetes Information & Action for Latinos) established in 2002 is a three-year programmatic initiative made possible in part by a grant from the Connecticut Health Foundation of Connecticut. Targeting the at-risk and members of the Latino community who are living with diabetes, Its primary purpose is to raised awareness, provide educational tools, help the general population determine if they are at risk, better manage their diabetes and obtain medical care/supervision.
A retreat scheduled for Friday, June 17, 2005 will bring together community advocates, health professionals, corporate representatives, faith-based organizations and health agencies within the state to learn about programmatic models that work. The day will include speakers on the topics of collaboration and cultural competency as well a session geared towards designing an action plan that will build a grassroots integrated networks of diabetes advocates. |
