CAUSA, Inc. is dedicated
to enhancing the general well being of the
HISPANIC/LATINO population in Connecticut
with special emphasis on advocacy, research
and technical assistance through and with
its member agencies.
CAUSA, Inc., was founded in 1975, is
Connecticut's largest coalition of Latino
community-based organizations. CAUSA member
agencies provide educational services to new
immigrants and low-income and working class
Latino families.
CAUSA's member organizations
throughout Connecticut reached over 25,000
people last year-about 10% of the state's
Latino population. CAUSA agencies are trusted
neighborhood is offering everything from ESL
classes to employment services to childcare
and youth programming to computer skills &
internet access through CAUSA's Project Nexo.
Thousands of Latino men, women and children
in Connecticut rely upon services provided
by CAUSA agencies.

Is Connecticut's
first networked technology center for Latino
users. Project NEXO provides state-of-the-art
computers with the latest software and internet
access to teach Latinos basic computer skills
and provide free access to other learning
opportunities on-line.
Project NEXO also
will provide job counseling services, general
equivalency diploma courses, English classes,
and on-line courses.

Facts about Project
NEXO:
- Project NEXO
is being tracked nationally as a new model
for connecting underserved communities through
and with technology.
- Over 10,000 new Latino
users will access the system in the program's
current pilot period.
- CAUSA's Project NEXO
has just been recognized with an award from
the U.S. Department of Commerce to establish
five public access computer centers.
- To sustain Project
NEXO beyond its pilot period, CAUSA,
Inc. will need to raise $300,000 annually
(60,000) for each of NEXO's five regional
technology centers) through grants and service
contracts.
Since
diabetes is one of the top health problems
in the Latino community, Project DIALs
mission is to:
- Help members of the
Connecticut Latino community to identify
if they have or are at risk of having diabetes.
- Assist Connecticut Latinos
who have diabetes or have family members
with the disease to better manage their
diabetes on a daily basis.
- Assist Connecticut Latinos
who have diabetes to obtain medical care
and supervision that supports their efforts
to effectively manage their disease.
